Most people have an idea or two about how they would improve the world, and they dream of being the next 'Dyson' or 'Jobs'. The truth is that very few of us have the wherewithal to develop the ideas any further than a few sketches or rough written notes.
We need a complete set of skills, all rolled into one, such as 'Designer, Draughtsman, Product Development Engineer, Production Engineer, Accountant, Salesman...the list goes on!
Not to mention the human attributes that you need to make it happen, such as Determination, Self-motivation, Grit, and sheer hard work.
Of course you may work for a large company that employs an array of people to help you with all the required disciplines, so you need never worry about having all the right skills to hand. But life isn't that easy, and staff don't always 'think the way I do', so sometimes you need an outside mind looking in. A fresh pair of eyes, a new approach and way of thinking can all help to push the project along, and make the difference between a static situation and a sudden surge of activity that sends all the dials off the scale!
You never know, that call to MCAD could be the start of something big....
