What makes a ‘good’ extrusion, and how do we design it?

There are lots of pitfalls awaiting us when we set out to design a new product. From the choice of material, the finish, right through to the functionality, we have to make choices as we progress, and test our theories during the development stages. In the end, there will be a number of conditions that this product will have to satisfy, most importantly how it competes against other rival products...
MCAD can assist in optimisation of section weights :

Initial profile =1.80kg/mtr Reworked profile = 1.20kg/mtr
Other considerations when designing your product:
Are the tolerances correct and can the extruder produce within the manufacturing limits? Is it in the right alloy, temper and finish for the application?
There are many rules and advisory steps to making extrusions work for you. MCAD can help you make the right choices and avoid unnecessary die & material costs.

Martin can work with you and your clients, to help improve the likelihood of getting a product through the concept stage and in to full production. MCAD are happy to work with Design, Marketing and Sales people in your organisation to get the best understanding of what your product needs to make it successful.
Understanding the basics is always a good start...
